...the vegetable garden in this space?

It will be our second summer in this house and we did nothing with it yet as 1) couldn't decide what we want 😬
2) I was heavily pregnant last spring
3) hubby always wants to do everything perfect, therefore he never starts 😂

So this year I would like to do a smallish vegetable garden, where I can grow tomatoes, paprikas, herbs, runner beans, turnips, maybe squash or courgettes.

I thought I would do behind the shed (which we planning to move next year) with a slightly raised bed with extra soil on it, but hubby says it won't get enough sunshine so he proposed the oposite side - where we have currently a few different type of fruit bushes, which would need to move.

The garden south faced, and this picture taken at midday today.

Can you please help with your expertise?

Where is the water supply? You'll need easy access for that. If you've a long hose, then I'd suggest along the back wall, which will keep them out of the way of kids playing on the grass.

@twingiraffes thank you for your suggestion. Water supply just opposite of the back wall, and we do have long hoses. Do you think it will get enough sunlight?

I have a south-facing garden with similar height wall and raised beds for veg at the end, and they do get enough sun in summer. I'm in the south, so fairly long growing season, which probably helps.

That said, I grow my tomatoes in growbags in a couple of raised wooden planters against the house wall (below the windows) for max sun. Helps keep the slugs off too.

Back right hand corner. Sun, and you wouldn’t have to move too many fruit bushes

As long as the bed isn't narrow and flat against the wall, I would think so.

@MadameGalen I might do tomato "trees" in big pots and put them under the window, should be safe this summer from the little hands..but we'll see.

Thanks everyone, I will tell hubby it's going to be at the back of the garden 😅

honestly I can't wait! My parents always had big vegetable gardens, they grown everything what we ate, but its easier for them as they have good quality of soil, plenty of sunshine and warm weather in the middle of Europe.
Will report back how it is going!

Please do report back @Dobcaty. (I currently have some very sad looking tomato seedlings on my window ledges that are desperate for some sunlight!)
