Rose advice

I have a rambling? Rose (very old)
Ive never really been sure what to do with it and some years are better than others.

This year it’s putting out lots of new growth on the old wood, (I usually spot and remove suckers successfully I think)

Any ideas for what action to take now? Should I cut back the old growth and encourage the new or keep it as is?

adding pics from today and a previous good year

I'd cut out a few of the oldest branches and let some of the new ones grow. It's always better to work with, rather than against, what a plant is wanting to do.

Prune quite hard leaving half a dozen strong shoots - and those ones look fantastic. If there are two shoots coming from the same place, take one out. You can be pretty ruthless so remove anything elderly and woody that doesn't look good. Take out any crossing shoots or any that you can't see how to tie in. Ramblers (it does look like one) flower on new wood so it looks as if it's going to have a good year. Feed and mulch.

Thanks @MaxandMeg @twingiraffes
I Assume keep the old woody main stem the new shoots are coming from and thin them out?

Should I remove some of the middle aged ones have new shoots on too so shorten them I guess ? It rambled quite a long way last year so could potentially be a bumper blooming season

Have fed with a mulched of well rotted manure

I’m probably overthinking this?

Ramblers should be pruned straight after flowering. We have a Rambling Rector, beautiful white screen flowers,it gets pruned in may. Are you sure it's a rambler not a climber, difficult to see the flowers. We mulch in autumn, horse manure. I know that's not much help now. I would wait till end of march, depending where you are situated. We're SE UK, prune as others have suggested, then manure mulch. Feed in June,we used either liquid feed, diluted or chicken pellets. Your wall is absolutely gorgeous.
