Can I sow Hollyhocks outside?

The packet says indoors with a propagater, I don't have one of those?

Will they how if I sow them outside?

Last year I planted sunflowers indoors and lovingly looked after them. Decided to add to them by planting some straight from seed outdoors.

All the sunflowers I'd down inside were demolished by snails and the ones I'd seen outdoors put on a great show.

So will hollyhocks be the same?

I don't think they flower the same year you sow them outdoors.

Thanks @LIZS. I'm not bothered about them flowering this year, I'd be ok if they took and flowered next year.

We went on holiday last year and Hollyhocks were growing in the street which looked as though they had self-seeded.

I sowed hollyhocks early last year and they flowered. I just sowed them in a seed tray, kept them on a table by our patio doors and then transferred them into pots when they'd germinated and grown a bit. I put them outside after the last frost. Very easy plants to grow from seed!

Yes is the simple answer.

You can start them off indoors and plant them out when the frosts have passed; this way you can give them a heads start. Put them somewhere warm and then transfer to a cold bright spot after germination. I'm not starting mine till next month.
