I know it's been asked loads. I ask every year.

I buy so so many plants / shrubs / trees and most don't grow or die. I have a Jasmine and Wisteria that hasn't grown since I got them in the summer.

Can I get a Bay Tree 60-80cm less than £25 online or am I not being realistic?

Also a 45cm ish wicker plant pot less than £30? 😬😬

Thanks.

Does it have to be online? It’s always nice to see what you’re getting before buying and there are bargains to be had at places like Morrisons. Young olive trees are often to be found for that sort of price and grow well in containers. You could get a young bay plant cheaply online from somewhere like Norfolk Herbs although it would be small.

Blimey, that’s a bargain!

My other go to is https://www.scotplantsdirect.co.uk
But I can’t see that it has bay trees atm.
i replaced 35m of higgledy piggeldy mixed hedge with 6 foot laurel last year for 1/2 the price I could find anywhere else.

Buying from the cheapest place online could be why the OP is having so many plants die. It's always best to go to a garden centre or nursery and see the plants in the flesh.

This isn't a good time of year for buying things like bay or olives, neither of them like the UK climate all that much, and if they've spent the last 6 months in a glasshouse in Holland, they won't like the current weather!

I have a Jasmine and Wisteria that hasn't grown since I got them in the summer. Normal. They’ll spend the first year putting down a root system.

An already trained bay tree will have taken several years and you are paying for that. You could start with a small plant for a few quid. They’re also easy to start from cuttings
