Hi - in the picture attached you'll see a shed and a gap to the left of it. I'm looking to fill it with something that will grow well in that area which only gets sun later in the day. Unfortunately there is an apartment block going up behind those trees so we're keen to get something pretty that will grow into those trees

I tried a wisteria last year but it died 😣 it may have been become the summer was hot and we went away and may have dried out, but it never really took off at all .. and then the dog decided it was a good chew twig and it met it's sorry end 🥺

Thanks

I like clematis. If works well with its roots in shade, and also star jasmine.

Lonicera Henryii - there are different colour options are vigorous and evergreen and will definitely grow up into your tree.

Star Jasmine are also fast growing - I have one that smothers a fence and scrambles up into a tree.

Not a climber but how about a Mimosa tree? Looks pretty all year round. I'm not sure how a climber on trees changes your view of the apartments if the trees are stil there?

Vitis coignetiea for gorgeous pinky-red leaves in autumn. One of the big rambler roses, eg Kiftsgate or Rambling Rector. But those are all super-vigorous and may overwhelm those small trees.

None of those trees are in your garden. Who owns the trees? I'd be worried they will clear them when the apartments are built. The only way to ensure privacy is to have your own trees. Lots of climbers grow fast (clematis Montana, Virginia creeper) but will loose leaves over winter.

You would be better to plant trees.

It's a conservation area, but I'm considering planting perhaps nice colourful red tree - acer or similar

One of the species clematis. Or a trumpet vine. A Rosa Filipes Kiftsgate.

A photinia red robin would be a good call, you can plant a standard and let it tree up.

If you want a climber to fill the gap, go for something evergreen - honeysuckle or clematis. I also have a brilliant prolific climber/bloomer called Trachelospermum jasminoides. it has been blooming since August and is still going strong and will continue well into December if previous years are anything to go by. I love it. The blooms are white.

What about a campsis?
