Should I re-pot my Monstera Deliciosa?

I've had it for a couple of years (maybe three?). Bought for about a tenner in Aldi in a medium sized pot, then re-potted to a large pot earlier this year.

I know nothing about plants and gardening! But am just educating myself on caring for it as it's getting so big. I bought a bamboo/coir pole for it and it's doing OK. Leaves are curling at the edges but think it's acclimating to cooler kitchen now weather is colder. It's in bright but indirect sun.

But, from what I've read, I should have put it in a pot with holes in the bottom and be using a drip tray thing... This big pot doesn't have holes? So I can't tell if it's getting root rot or needing to be re-potted.

Any advice please?

How often are you watering it? Curling leaves might mean over-watering or maybe just stressed by being moved. It's not really the right time of year to repot plants as they're going into winter dormancy (best to do it in spring when they are starting to grow again). Definitely should have better drainage, so a pot with holes when you do.

I'm watering around every 10 days. Around 250mls just chucked on, but have now read they need to be evenly watered. I know it's about 250mls as it's half a water bottle... I just use up what's been left lying around 🙈 Perhaps I should make a diary entry to water every two weeks now? I mist the leaves with water every few days too.

I'm used to "caring" for a jade plant... It's the least fussy thing known to man?! I can leave it for weeks with no water, or water every week, it doesn't care. Think I need to pay attention to the Monstera a bit more.

Will wait until spring to re-pot with a pot with holes then - thanks. Have just bought some houseplant soil and some "Myst" spray with nutrients in it, so will top the pot up a little and start using that soon.

P.s I haven't moved it for months, but the kitchen is quite open plan and has various doors, so just think it's cooler overall now.

Every couple of weeks should be fine. One of the best things I ever did for monitoring watering was to buy a moisture monitor (,just on amazon or wherever). Using that to properly assess how dry soil is has been instrumental in better growing success! Though I think in winter, watering every couple of weeks should be fine, and misting too, as central heating really messes up humidity. I have one of these plants in my hallway, I rescued it from my work office where it was slowly dying - they're quire stunning and architectural when they get going. Good luck with yours!

You could tip pot on its side and drill holes in the bottom, or drill holes in the side near the bottom. Easiest with a drill but brute force and a tough pointed knife also works. Twist the knife round and round as if it were a drill.

you’ll then need a tray under to protect your floor from any water leaks

Yes, drill some holes in the current pot. There's also loads of room to put more soil in it rather than repotting. Take the plant out of the pot, drill holes (or melt with soldering iron but keep ventilated while you're....ventilating) . put some fresh potting mix in the bottom, replace plant, fill in gaps at the sides. Check the top of the soil is dry before watering. Either by sticking your finger in the soil or by getting an idea of the weight of the pot when it needs watering. I think overwatering is worse than underwatering.

Thanks everyone! So, my Amazon order arrived today. I've topped up the soil with about 1.5ltr (half the bag) of this stuff, sprayed with the Myst and popped the new, longer, coir pole in ready for the future (optimist).

I'll ask DH for some help tipping it to the side and drilling holes in the bottom soon, and purchase a drip tray and a moisture meter (like this one?
