Currently our garden is only useable for the bins so I'm going to get someone in to do it do the dds can use it to play in and we can sit in it on summer evenings. All advice welcome so I can talk sense when I get quotes.

Personally I think a mixture of lawn and paving is the nicest and most practical/child friendly.
Agree with the idea of having someone in to mow your law in the summer to save having to store a lawnmower.
Astroturf is a horrible concept IMO, having real grass is much better for wildlife - which DCs will become interested in as they get older - also nicer to play on.

I think grass or any other growing thing is really the best option always

we live in such 'nature starved' environments often, that even a little bit of grass at home is nice to have and lovely for little feet to run on. Save a little corner where they can dig and plant things

grass - muchnice for paddling pool, sandoit etc, and the smell!

also, with grass you'll be doing your bit for the environment - the more people who rip up lawns and pave over the worse for flooding etc
