How to use cold frame over winter?

This winter I have a cold frame for the first time, albeit a small one.

I'm all about the flowers rather than veg, and I'm not sure how I could sensibly use it over the winter. I'm sure there must be something I can put in it over winter to get ahead for next year, but online search results just seem to talk about starting veg.

Any ideas gratefully received 😊

I would use it to overwinter tender plants in pots.

I have winter veg in plug plants in mine, and will be repotting all my cuttings into pots of their own and keeping them in the cold frame.

Also, I'd put any smaller less hardy plants in it.

And things I've split, like heucheras, tiarellas, geums etc.

Thanks both. I don't think I have any tender plants and I don't have any cuttings.

I'm relatively new to gardening, perhaps I'm not really ready to make the most of a cold frame yet 😆

Act fast and autumn sow sweet peas tomorrow in pots.... they'll be fabulous next year! Bigger and better than spring sown. They're very easy and reliable from seed.

Autumn sowing of Sweet peas

Is there any flower more quintessentially part of the British cottage garden than the Sweet Pea. Those vibrant pick-and-mix colours, that scent. It speaks to me of sunshine, hazy days and a riot of…
