Nice evergreen shrubs

Just spent theast couple of hours digging up some of the many, many forsythia bushes lining our garden (previous owner must have loved forsythia). I have a couple of shrubs to go in to replace: a pink variety of ceanothus, and a cotinus 'lillia'.... was thinking something evergreen would also be nice so there's a bit of structure/interest in the winter. Any ideas? I've been looking at Pittosporum but not sure what would look best and also don't want it to be too huge.
Garden is SE facing and well draining soil. Shrubs will be ong a fence which you can see through into next level of garden (garden is tiered)...

Escallonia. Have small flowers in spring and you can get them in a variety of colours, also fairly quick growing.

My Pittospurnums are both quite small (one is Tom Thumb, don't know the other one).

Dogwoods aren't evergreen but have interesting colour stems.

Choysia (although now I'm doubting myself on the evergreen!). I've got a massive one in the back but a dwarf one in the front.
Photina
Viburnum
Hebe

Variegated euonymus
Cotoneaster horizontalis
Some sort of squat conifer such as picea glauca conica
Rosemary

Recommend Choysias. I have a yellow leaved and a green leaved. The green leaved has just flowered for the second time this year. Lovely scent too. Both are evergreen, although the yellow one sometimes gets frost damage on early Spring growth.

Camellia is evergreen and gives colour at a time when there isn’t much colour around

Oooo thanks everyone, lots to Google here!

I know I love dogwood but does it not grow quite big?

Viburnum Tinus are great. Evergreen and lovely white flowers

Depending on the size that you want, a pink or white Fairy Magnolia. I’ve just bought some “dwarf” Eucalyptus pulverulenta 'Baby Blue', which eventually grow to about 4m but can be pruned. There are other dwarf varieties but don’t buy Eucalyptus Gunnii.

Would you consider a climber? Lonicera Henryi Copper Beauty or Trachelospermum.

If you want something smaller, Coronilla valentina subsp. glauca 'Citrina' flowers for months.

If you go on crocus.com you can filter for shrubs, evergreen and flowering month. Have a browse

You don't necessarily have to buy them there
