Hebe replacement

Hi there, I'm after some recommendations for a replacement for a hebe that's horribly leggy and in rubbish condition. Ideally I'd like something shrub like which is good for the bees and birds like the hebe was. It's in quite a narrow raised border thing but other plants in there seem to do quite well. Gets a fair amount of sun so any suggestions? Thanks

Hebe’s benefit from a cut back by up to a 3rd in late summer to prevent them getting too leggy but when the inevitable happens like in this case then you can cut them back hard and it’ll come back with nice fresh compact growth. It might be worth a try? An alternative could be a dwarf Buddleja like one of the ‘Butterfly Candy’ series. A range of colours and max height about 80cm.

Thanks @DougMLancs it was here when we moved in so is at least 14 years old and has been very neglected and mistreated in that time. I'll really prune it back in Sept and see what happens but suspect its beyond reviving! I'll investigate some buddlejas as a fall back plan!
