Rabbit in my garden

I have a rabbit in my garden. It’s a wild one as it’s a bog standard brown fur rabbit. My issue is how it got into my garden. It’s really securely fenced all the way around and even the gate is tight. It seems like it’s on its own. So, it’s not bothering us at the minute, but should it be free? There’s a field behind us which is where I think it came from, but if it jumped over, surly it would jump back. It’s been here for over a week.
Sorry, I’m a towny and have no clue what to do 😳

Thump 'er

It will have dug its way under and will leave if it wants to. If it doesn't want to it will invite its mates and before you know it you'll have dozens of them reproducing like, well, rabbits, and living in a warren under your shed.

I cut a small opening in my fence so that wildlife can come and go. You can also just dig out a small area at base of fence.

Please put a shallow dish or pan of water for her.

Rabbits burrow. Leave the gate open?

Delicious, and low in fat.

Put a message on the Spotted page in your area on facebook. Somebody will advise.

I keep free roam pet rabbits. Trust me, if it wants to get out it will. Pop a bowl of water out for it if you can and leave it be. It probably feels a bit safer from predators in your cosy garden. Unlikely to invite it's friends if this is the case as that will draw attention to them. You're lucky op, they're so cute. You've clearly got a lovely garden if you've been 'chosen'!

I'd shoot it and eat it.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 24/07/2023 11:12

It won’t get eaten! Now I’m attached to it.

Didn’t think about water, so will do that.

I won’t open the gate as there is a busy road and the sea, even though I have the field behind, I’d rather they went there. We’ve watched to see if there is another one, but there isn’t. It does seem to hang out near the shed, but still can’t see where. The photos I have are not great as it’s at the bottom of the garden and it looks like a blob with a white fluffy tail.

Don't keep it in your garden, it needs to be with other rabbits.
