Screening plants that will go in pots

Hello
i need to grow some tall plants that will grow quickly and provide privacy from neighbours. Unfortunately there is concrete where they need to go so they will have to be in containers. I do not have a good track record with keeping plants in containers alive. So the requirements are fast growing, hardy, low maintenance and suitable for container-life.
All advice welcome!

Ooh another question, I have a hedge of some description that actually grows quite quickly- can this go in pots or does it have to be in the ground?

Bamboo grows well in large pots and can provide instant screening. They're fairly hardy too and won't need much looking after (just keep well watered in hot/dry weather).

Another vote for bamboo. It does very well in large containers. I have some in half barrels. In fact, having seen a neglected clump (not mine!)swallow up neighbouring gardens I wouldn’t dream of growing it outside a container.

Also going to suggest bamboo.

Bamboo it is, by the looks of things. Sounds like i can mostly neglect it and it survive

Just make sure you keep it in a container. If grown in the ground it gets invasive and is hard to get rid of (I know from personal experience as my house's previous owners left some in the ground!)

Are there specific types of bamboo, ones tgst are taller or quicker growing?

I have phyllostacus bamboo in pots. They were recommended by a friend who’s a gardener. You can buy them anything from about 1m to 2m high and I understand they grow up to 4m.

Thank you

More for bamboo. It escapes though, so I use pots with a plate underneath.
