What is eating my flowers, please?

Google told me earwigs would be eating my clematis flowers, but my newspaper traps caught nothing (may be I should try again). All I found was this fellow on the arum lilies who I have identified as a Viburnum beetle? The adults shouldn't be around until late July, but the eating has been going on for a few weeks.

The daisies are out the front so could be a separate issue.

Grateful for any help.

The beetle in your picture looks like a vine weevil. They lay their eggs in the soil, and the grubs feed on plant roots, leading to collapse of the plant. Whether that is what is eating your plants, I don’t know, could be unrelated, but I would be concerned to see vine weevils around.

Oh yes, it does. Thank you. I'll go and pick them off for starters...

You can tell it’s a weevil and not a beetle by the rostrum, that long nose thing at the front. Weevils have them, beetles don’t.

Thanks. Looking my at the RHS info though, these weevils can only nibble from the edges, not make holes in blooms/leaves. So I'm still looking for another culprit...
