Too late for bare root plants?

I've seen some great bargains online for bare root plants such as hollyhocks, blue sea holly, baby's breath, lupins, hostas, ranunculus, asters and echinacea cone flowers.

Does anyone know approximately how long for these to grow and flower?

Are you in the UK? It's not bare root season here.

Most of those things ought to be flowering by now. Some flower longer than others - sea holly lasts ages; asters six weeks or so (in the autumn); hostas a couple of weeks. You can look up each individual thing on the RHS website.

Yes, I'm in the UK.

It is probably a last-ditch attempt for them to get rid of the last of the stock they have hanging about. Fantastically dirt-cheap and it might be worth a go, otherwise it really isn't worth it.

i Would only buy these now if I had a lot of space and a lot of patience. The plants will take one or two years to flower. Depending on where you live and your soil type, you may not be able to plant them in the ground straight away. That means the expense of pots.

Bare Roy plants sold this time of year have usually started to set their flowers for this year. These are then cut off, and the roots are sold.
