Neighbours cameras

Don't have any issues with neighbours but have houses close both sides and back and two of neighbours have cameras high up on their houses and I feel very overlooked when in my garden.
I am pretty annoyed about it as I feel they are too high and could have been located lower in their houses so they could see still see their gardens but weren't at top of houses as it feels very nosey and an invasion of privacy.
I won't say anything as will just make things awkward but can't understand why people do this.
I think they should have mentioned they were going to put cameras at top of their houses before and reassured me not able to see in my garden.
What does everyone else think about this as everytime I go in my garden now I feel like I can't relax.
We live in a small village and people know everything about you anyway without cameras up too😬

Can you ask them to show you what the cameras can and can't see for some piece of mind? They should only be focussed on their own gardens.

No it will be awkward as been up for a while but just don't understand the need for them to be that high.
I understand why people have cameras but it's abit inconsiderate when they are that high and even if it is said what they looking out they could be adjusted after.
My parents neighbors have similar cameras and the neighbors said they can still whole close!
So everytime anyone goes out they know about it....
I think some people are abit sad......

As far as I'm aware, they're not legally allowed to put cctv up that covers someone else's private property. You're well within your rights to ask them to show you what's being recorded.

I would contact the ICO and get their advice

Ignore the link from above (your privacy) The information on there is bollocks- the clue is in their name.
Check the actual legislation on the gov UK website.
The only thing you can ask the neighbours to do, and the only thing that the legislation says they "should" do (though it isn't enshrined in law) is to avoid causing a nuisance. So keeping the cameras on their own property as far as possible.
If it's any consolation, I live behind a petrol station and have several pointing in my direction. I've always thought it makes us less of a target.

PS, I'd say as you love rurally that maybe the cameras were installed so high so that a view of surrounding areas is easier in case of any troublemakers approaching.

Hi, have you managed to get any resolution in this? We have similar happen to us, we went away for a couple of days and came back to the house behind us with a camera on first floor windowsill directed into our property and garden, it appears to point directly into my daughters bedrooms. It is too high up to cover his small garden. We all feel so violated and no one will help.
