Shrubs that like their roots cool and their tops warm?

Ideas welcomed! I have a space to fill in front of a 4' fence. It's on the north side of the fence and I would like it to create some privacy but not take up too much room, so probably something fairly upright. Can't be arsed with too much pruning. Once it's cleared the fence it'll be in full sun. And finally (if you haven't given up), I'd like it to have something that's good for wildlife, whether flowers or fruit. Oh, and I'm in Cornwall so can get away with stuff that those further north can't, although I did have multiple frosts this past winter.

I spent yesterday at a great nursery but nothing really grabbed me other than a Physocarpus. There's already a Pittosporum but they don't have much for the wildlife (correct me if I'm wrong!).

Thanks.

Not a shrub, but lots of clematis like those conditions.

Not a shrub, but ideal conditions for clematis. They do die back in winter, but as soon as new shoots start just cut back some of the dead bits and they look after themselves.

I can vouch for that
Roots shaded by the other plants
Flowers full sun.

I did consider clematis but I'd like something more permanent and with structure the whole year round.

A grape would love those conditions.

Fuchsias like that combination I think.

Ooh. Now there's an idea.

@JellyMouldJnr funnily enough the adjacent plant is a fuchsia 😁 there's also a hydrangea and a Hebe, and a pieris tucked in among the mess.

Honeysuckle likes those conditions too - flowers for insects, berries for birds.

I was admiring the honeysuckles at the nursery but again I'm not sure they'd contribute much to privacy. Such a gorgeous scent though.

Viburnum carlesii. Upright, not too big, ok in shade, lovely flowers, heavenly smell in March and April.
