Help me not dig a new patio for my DP

Help! ‘Lovely’ DP has cleared some of the path in our horrendously overgrown garden, except he’s cut back all my Japanese anemones while he was at it 🤬

will they just grow back next year or do I need to do something to rescue them?

as for how I ‘have a word’ with him, well I think I might wait until I’ve had a little drink later… (to chill me out a bit!)

Omigosh I’ll help you build the patio!

we have a huge, beautiful magnolia. When we moved in we had to discuss how to manage the garden and he suggested cutting it right back. I told him he would be living on his own if he did that…

The trials of life…

I asked DH to take out a laurel bush that was smothering a rhododendron and a buddleia. I was really clear. I said "take out this one" and I took hold of a branch to clearly show him. He said "What trim it?" I said "no take out the whole bush so we can see the rhododendron and the buddleia." Later on I pop into the back garden and there is a large exposed space with five severed trunks. He's taken out a section of hedge about 3 meters across revealing the scruffy fence behind and two big bushes. It looks a right mess. I work so hard in the garden and every time he comes out it is just pure destruction. He is trying to say I told him to take everything out. Why on earth would I want that? I said "why would I ask you to do that?" He thought I might want to plant flowers there? OMG. I can't keep on top of the existing flowerbeds without creating more!

Can I recommend a series of canes and that red and white hazard tape? And maybe a can of spray paint to mark things that need to come out?

My DH managed to kill a huge, long established hibiscus bush/tree by digging through the main root when burying a family pet.
I didn't realise until it started dying, otherwise he'd have been in the grave too....

Related but not related………. Grin

We currently have a skip…

We did the garage the other day, with n’er a cross word, reader I damn near fainted…….Grin

Today we tidied out the boiler room and half the shed and we didn’t have a row. <<posts address for medal to be sent to>>> Grin

Then he tried to throw out a piece of off cut from our “new kitchen” Shock I was very clear as to why I was keeping an off cut from four years ago. (Top tip, keep it and if you change your cleaning products you test it there first.)

After that nothing got chucked without consensus, all went well, until we sat down at 4.00 ish with a glass of wine and we were sitting in the pergola at the back of the garden and he started telling me what he was going to do next…………in the garden…..Shock

Dearest readers, please send cakes, preferably with files in them.

I SWEAR TO GOD EVERY TIME I RELAX HE GETS OVERCOME WITH STUPID SHITE ITIS………..😡😡

Nah, rolled up newspaper and smack him on the nose. It's all they deserve.

Haha you’ve all cheered me up! I do have to point out, on the other hand, that it is not just men who don’t know a dandelion from a daffodil and who do idiotic annoying things when let loose in the garden… (usually in the name of ‘Make it Look Tidy) 🤨 I’d tell you a few tales but they would be too outing
