What can I put in planters at the front of my East facing house?

I have two long wooden planters at the front of my east facing house. They were filled with lavender plants, but I think they are now twiggy, no longer Green and the top of the soil is covered in moss. So what can I replace them with?

Ideally, I would like something evergreen, as I have one on either side of my front door and also low maintenance. Thanks

Pieris are lovely, evergreen and the new leaves are scarlet/ pink at the moment. They can grow very large, but would be restricted in a planter and there are smaller versions like ‘little heath’.

I've got Camellias and they do very well.

Sarcoccas are great, evergreen, tough as nails and lovely fragrant flowers in winter. Maybe mix with some bulbs for seasonal interest.

Pansy's are bright and cheerful, flower spring and summer and so easy to look after. They grow more or less anywhere. Just sow the seeds and leave them to grow. Only care needed a jug of water if very dry.
