Tree for shaded area

We have an area which looks a bit blank, and a potted tree would look lovely there. The problem is that it’s shaded by the shed, and doesn’t receive any direct sunlight. Are there any trees which could cope with these conditions, or should I start thinking of other ideas?

How dark is it? I have Acers in a very shaded area (Sango Kaku is my favourite and doing well with about an hour of direct sun a day) or you could consider a Lolipop Photinia or Yew?

A Japanese maple would like those conditions, and they grow happily in pots as long as they are well watered in dry weather.

Yes to acer. I’m about to put an Autumn Moon acer into my garden - gets some morning light but not a lot else. They are good in pots.

Viburnum Tinus also do well in shade if you wanted something evergreen.

Holly. It’s their natural habitat. A variegated holly would be both evergreen and lighten the shade
