What do you do over bulbs

I've had lovely daffodils and hyacinths this spring. But now they're finished, what do I put over the top that isn't going to dig them up? Or get in the way of them next year.

There in a really prominent bed so I can't just ignore them.

If they are ready to be cut down you can put annuals to cover the gap. Do let the leaves die down, or you won't get much next year.

If it's a really visible place but the bulbs haven't had a chance to die back yet, you can put something in a pot to hide them for the time being. For next year, you may want to grow your bulbs in a pot buried in the ground. That way when they go over you can pull the pot out and hide it somewhere not very visible for the summer.

I'm attaching a photo.

It's an awkward bit which always got trampled by the kids.

There's a hebe towards the back as I had to cut it right back as it had had a massive hole in the middle where DS left a football in it a year or so ago. Biscuit

Now they don't trample, it's just a bit sorry for itself.

The hyacinths look all wilty because I accidentally dug them up yesterday.

I am not good at this.

I need something along the edge of the path too.

Could i put lavender down the edge to box it in a bit?

I think lavender along the edge would look nice. But also, if you wanted something more instant bunging a load of annuals in the gaps would help enormously. You are only looking at the dying leaves because there is nothing else to look at, fill it up and you'll barely notice them.

Thank you! I've never really bothered with annuals but I shall give it a go.

they can be very useful for filling gaps until other things are established.
