How to grow on teeny tiny lavender plug plants?

One of the projects I've set for myself this year is to grow a lavender hedge. To save on costs a bit I've just ordered some tiny little lavender plug plants, thinking I could grow them on a bit in pots before planting. Could anyone give me any tips on the best way to do this? I understand they need fairly free draining soil, but being such small plants would they need a bit more watering than I would normally give a lavender plant? My care regime for my more established lavenders is bordering on neglect as I understand they don't like too much mollycoddling! Will these plug plants need a little more TLC or do I risk killing them with kindness? TIA!

I wouldn't overwater the little ones. Make sure if you plant in compost you add in some grit too

I don't know and I'm guessing but ...
If they are in freedraining soil then, unless you are standing them in saucers of water, I don't see how you can overwater.Confused Water them but let them drain!

They grow quicker than you think!
Plant as you would anything else, don’t let it dry out and imo it really helps to keep them weed-free. Less competition and you can see them clearly in case of a problem for early intervention.
biggest threat for me was the neighbourhood cats, pigeons and slugs.
Remember to save a few to grow
on elsewhere, in case you have one or two that die, esp when growing a hedge. You’d want to replace it with exactly the same plant and believe me even supposedly the same variety from the same nursery between diff batches are not always the same!
Bitter experience! I now always keep a few plants ‘warm’ on the side.
