I don’t know. It seems to be happening a lot this year. The same seeds I have grown for years in the same conditions have got very leggy this year, for the first time. I don’t know why, unless it is something to do with the rubbish that is sold as seed compost now? I’m resowing thé courgettes into top soil and grit today, the current ones look terribly drawn.

When potting them on you can put them in much deeper that way they aren’t leggy, I do this whenever I get leggy seedlings, works perfectly.

Fairly normal at this stage, they haven’t got their first true leaves yet. Make sure they get as much light as possible

Me too. I'm assuming it's because we've had so many grey miserable days and not much brightness so far this spring

My tomato seedlings are the same, much leggier than usual.

Another one with leggy seedlings here. I think this is due to light levels as the ones I have under a grow lamp are fine.

Also poor germination. Probably down to poor compost and subsequent difficulty in maintaining moisture levels. I agree this year's composts are pants, if anyone has found something good and sensibly priced I'd be pleased to hear what it is.

But I'd just add that it looks a bit early to pot those seedlings on, they may struggle without any true leaves.

I used my own compost and sowed them on 3rd April. Should I leave the potting on until they’re more mature?

i thought deeper pots would help as they are flopping over.

Not very experienced with seedlings here

Yes, wait until they have a set of true leaves, I can see some forming already.

I agree with PPs that low light levels this year have made seedlings much leggier, but just plant them nice and deep when you pot them on.
