Plants to avoid in garden if you have plant eating toddler - anyone knows?

I have a very small, sunny (when there is any sun) patio where I can only grow plants in pots. My 4 year old DD is very interested in plants so I thought about starting a little garden with her, however I also have an almost 2 year old DS that still loves to put things in his mouth, in particular anything that looks like food So I need some advice on the best plants that are easy to grow in pots, not poisonous to eat or touch (DD has very sensitive skin), and that will produce something interesting (flowers or food). I was thinking maybe tomatoes and strawberries, any other ideas? Also I like pottering around but I am not a great gardener. Any advice welcomed

Vegetables, pansies, bulb, herbs, small fruit trees. Your local garden centre will be able to tell you more.

If you've got sun you can grow anything! Virginia stock seeds flower quickly, and reliably, for a four year old. Then there's nasturtiums and marigolds. Also you can get dwarf forms of vegetables especially for containers.

Laburnum

I mean don't have laburnum or hollyhocks

arum lily is poisonous. Most bulbs are poisonous but your babe would have to dig up and chow down on a lot before it did them any harm. Could be good to grow things like herbs, they are easy to grow and wouldn't matter if they got eaten.

Grow edible herbs, cut and come again salad stuff and edible flowers, a good guide to easy basics can be found at sarahraven.com and she sells the seeds in sets.

Completely avoid foxglove, monkshood they are deadly poison! Avoid lillies! If he is sensitive there is an outside chance strawberries might set him off.

I do cut and come again salads, beans, peas, marigolds, violas, mint, sage, lemon balm, tomatoes, basil as my basics.
DD aged 4 loves black kale and ruby chard...from the garden.
We also have a grape vine and a blueberry bush they are fantastic when berries are ripe! I let her graze the garden.

Not sure about tomatoes, though. A pot grown variety would have very small fruit and a two year old just might pop a whole one in, which could cause choking.

could you grow tomatoes in a hanging basket, out of arms length but still visible.
