What is this? Not in UK

I'm currently in an East Mediterranean country, and I'm finding these all over the place. They hang from a medium-sized leafless tree with a wide canopy.

It is a dry seed pod containing a row of about 12 or so elongated dark brown seeds.

Any idea what it is?

Indian bean tree?

Carob tree pod

I'm pretty sure it's not a carob. I'm familiar with carob and the pod has a caved-in appearance at sides and is generally much smaller. But, yes, it is very reminiscent of carob. I wondered maybe the same family?

Indian bean tree?

Doesn't fit the description. The pods don't look like the picture, and the seeds lack the 'papery wings'.

Albizia? Mimosa? It actually looks like a Wisteria (although those are velvety). Try googling Fabaceae tree and see if anything looks familiar.

Could be a flamboyant tree Delinox regia?

IceandIndigo · 11/04/2023 19:39

Sorry Delonix regia.

WashAsDelicates · 11/04/2023 20:16

That's it, exactly! Delonix regia. I looked it up and showed the pictures of the tree in bloom and in leaf to a local, and he confirmed it.

Thanks 😊
