Lawns - first cut of the year

Anyone else not done their first cut yet? It’s been so blooming wet, I’ve still not done mine.

It doesn’t look too bad, but it’s not as tidy as I’d like it to be. Though I still admire the resilience of grass. Last summer it looked like straw. I would never waste water on watering my lawn, it’s amazing how it bounces back.

Ha, love that description - perfectly suits how mine often looks after the first cut.

I am aiming for Wednesday using my antisocial petrol lawn mower which is quieter than the tractors in the field over the road

We desperately need to do ours but some bits are like a bog so no chance as we have a ride on and it'll get stuck.

If it doesn't dry out a bit soon I'll send the teenager to strim the worst bits. If nothing else it will keep him occupied outside instead of in front of FIFA for a little bit.

Wet ground does make the weeding easier though

Absolutely glorious day here in the NW. Ours has had its second cut.
With a petrol mower, but we are semi rural.

Yes, I need to get up to the allotment and do some weeding while they still lift out easily.

Love mowing the lawn. Third cut of the year today as it's been a beautiful sunny day 😍

Did ours again yesterday. It came up really well and meant I could do some patch repairs too. We tend to cut right through winter when it needs it

DH enjoys sharpening things and has run out chisels, so kindly sharpened my lawnmower blades. I'm expecting great things when I come to use it.

Did our second last week, will need doing again soon.

I cut mine yesterday, but left the edges as there is a amazing amount of self seeded flowers – nigella, forget me nots etc sprouting etc all around the edges - which is going to look so pretty in a month or so when we've had some sun.
