Stupid question about washing up water!

In the summer months, can I use the washing up water (after I've washed up!) to water the garden?

Stupid question I know, but it's seems a waste (esp if there is a drought/water shortage)

I use normal Fairy washing up liquid - will it harm the plants/grass?

Thank you 🙏

I don't it's a good idea as it will definitely kill smaller insects. I use it to spray my dahlias when they're infested with aphids.

I've always done this, so does my mum

We do it too. Also last year when all our water butt's were empty we stood in a builders bucket in the shower and collected that too.

Absolutely yes...its fine for the garden. The little washing up liquid ( a soap) will cause no issues...use ecover as its even less likely to be an issue. You can use bath water too unless it's had bath bombs in it...

Last year we got a condenser tumble dryer and I use the water from that. Obviously I don't use it much in summer but if the water butt isn't full I just tip the water in there to top it up.

@Sparkybloke thank you! I was hoping someone might recommend something!

I don't want to harm insects/plants etc 😂

Got two water butts filled up right now but that won't last forever 😂

Thank you everyone 👍

I do it when there’s a drought. The RHS says it’s fine in moderation.
