Any signs of life from your Verbena Bonariensis?

Wondering if my 3 year old plants have had it. Pruned them a couple of weeks ago. Can see life on the Russian Sage.🤔

I thought mine were dead so started digging one out - there were green bits just under the soil line so I hastily reburied. Probably just a question of patience.

I did read, though, that posh Gardener’s treat them as an annual and don't assume they're coming back.

My front garden is basically a nursery for these! I dig loads up each year and give to friends.
I've got signs of life on some but not all yet.

@Chasingsquirrels i have verbena bonariensis envy! Mine are really touch and go, even in my tiny gravel garden.

They are quite short lived. Maybe start off some from seed now as a back up.

Mine aren’t showing but there’s a fair chance that it will have sent some seedlings out even if the original plant has died. If you don’t do much weeding other than obvious things you recognise, you might find one growing. I’ve just been working in the border this afternoon and have loads of seedlings popping up - mostly allium and agapanthus by the looks of it.
