Help killed 2 day old peace lily!

My DH bought me a peace lily on Sunday. I watered it but stupidly did not check to see that the water had drained away. I noticed yellow tips on it today and saw it was saturated and sitting in water. I have taken it out of the pot to allow the roots to dry out but should I change the soil or do anything else?

I am not great with houseplants but killing it in 2 days is a record for me.

It should survive if you let it drain. Only water it when the leaves start to droop, then sit the pot in water for 20 minutes before draining. The tips probably won’t recover but the rest of the plant should be ok.

You're not even close to killing it. They are sometimes grown in just water/no soil.

As above, leave it to drain (in the pot) and when no excess water is running out, put it back in a warm/sunny spot and leave it to get on with life Smile

You clearly haven’t killed it - it’s looking splendidly healthy.

Put it back in the pot and don’t water it until the soil is dry for about half an inch down.

Peace lilies are great as they will recover even when the leaves are all floppy from drought

It's not dead, let it drain, they're hardier than you'd think.
DSis gave me one when she moved abroad 10 yrs ago it's still going strong, my dd has it now.
I once watered it with baby bio when it was in flower and the flowers went brown but like I say, it's still going

God as long as they're not left outside these things just don't die IME. I had mine for 10 years before I got sick of them and chucked them, just cut off any leaves that don't look great and don't worry about it.

They're quite tough .
Leave them to dry out a bit and they'll be fine. They'll let you know if they're thirsty as they sort of droop a bit.

Thanks all, I repotted it and will leave it alone. Just feeling a bit sensitive as I managed to kill my DHs last plant present so need to be extra careful with this one otherwise I might not get any more plant gifts 😀

I did see a little bug that looked a bit like a small white woodlouse when I removed the pot which I squished. No sign of any others though.
