I want to plant a rose hedge across my front garden. It'll have to be quite close to a pavement so I wanted it to be thornless which led me to DA's Kew Gardens rose. However, what gives me some pause is that the garden is south facing and the soil is quite dry/poor which is far from ideal for roses.
I can did in plenty of compost when I plant them but cannot change the aspect which means it gets lots of lots of full sun. I also live in quite a dry part of the country so rainfall is a bit lower here.
Is it worth me pursuing this or am I just trying to fit something into the wrong spot and it'll never thrive?
Are there any other roses that might suit such a requirement?
- thornless
- small evential size
- upright shrub habit
- repeat flowering
- full sun and quite dry
