Camellia advice

I’m a novice gardener. Back in august I planted a camellia (Mary Williams) that I was given in a large container. It’s in a North West facing spot and was doing ok until all the recent rain. When I potted it up, I don’t think I added enough grit to the soil, and used a mix of ericaceous and normal compost which maybe wasn’t acidic enough on balance. Some of the leaves have started wilting and drying. I suspect that the roots are waterlogged.

How can I correct this? If I take it out of the pot to change the soil mix and add in some more grit I’m nervous about damaging the roots and disturbing the buds

have you put the pot of little tiny brick things so its raised above the ground slightly? that will help it drain. Maybe its just been hit by the frosts? Mine are in the ground, so i dont do anything to them.

@dreamingofsun I bought some pot feet and raised it up onto those last week which will hopefully encourage drainage. It has been cold! It’s right next to the house so fairly sheltered at least

When i googled it said this....Wrap with several layers of plastic 'bubble wrap' to reach the ground and just above the rims of posts. Tie securely. Cover compost with fresh dry leaves or any other material which provides good air pockets and therefore good insulation.

Maybe its the cold thats been causing problems and not the wet
