How do I overwinter my geraniums?

I live in the south of the UK where we rarely get prolonged spells of frost and my geraniums (perlagoniums in individual terracotta pots) usually survive the winter.

But this week I brought them into the kitchen (coldest room in the house!!) to save them from the snow. So they are sitting here, very dry. I have one of those small plastic sheeting covered greenhouses obvs unheated. Should I water them before putting them out there? Or is there a risk the water will freeze and damage them? I will wait until the weather is quite a bit warmer but don't want them in here cluttering up the floor for Christmas.

Mine are in our porch, unheated but attached to the house so rends not to freeze. If you’re going to put them somewhere cooler, Id be inclined to take cuttings as insurance.

They need to be somewhere frost-free. At this time of year they need no light, so do you have a garage? They could go in there over the Christmas period.

Mine stay on our porch wrapped in bubble wrap during the cold weather. They're looking a bit droopy right now as this cold snap is going on longer than usual.

I'm hoping they're OK. However, they are a lot bigger than I actually really want them to he now so if they do die back a bit I won't be too fussed.

I do nothing with mine. They sit in the snow and have done for years. In London so we only get occasional snow. Mine have been blooming for 7yrs now with no problems at all!

They have survived here in mild winters before, but I wouldn't rely on it. We've had -10 here and everything has been frozen solid for days, so the small handful in pots in my garden won't survive that. Home counties.

I brought mine inside rather than leaving them in the garage, as i used to, and they are looking good around the dining room. One of them has little black dots on the leaves and some leaves are bitten- does anyone know what by? I used to overwinter in the garage but they really didn't like it, even without cold snaps as bad as the one we just had & I lost quite a few.
