Oh my gosh OP, there is some mental telepathy going on here....
I am sorry but I don't have the answer you need as I am an orchid novice, but hope you don't mind me barging in to add a question from those in the know...
I have one (I don't know which but it is a small one and had light pink flowers .. I know, my knowledge is quite something 😝) and it's flowers have now fallen off. We are in Spring here now, so I assume that is a factor. I read to cut back the stem, which I did to about half way, but the rest just went brown. So I thought I had killed it off proper, which I am the expert on.... but it's leaves are still lovely, and today I see that it is shooting a new little leaf! So i cut the stem some more right down to where the leaves are, so now it has no stem.
Then I saw this post pop up! So OP, it seems I have the opposite problem to you, you have a living stem with no leaves, and I have lovely leaves and no stem.
This is about the 4th orchid I have had and I killed the others off, so I have given this one so much care and attention, trying to well, keep it alive really. So I am thinking I just leave it where it was (in the bathroom) and soak it once a week like I had been doing when it had flowers?
Someone told me that an orchid lives well, (if its a gift) it's given to someone with love. Well my ex bought me one and that didn't live, the others from family who now I am not sure how much they love me as they didn't last either. This one I bought for myself for a bit of self-love, and so it's a silly thing, but I NEED this one to thrive.
I hope you manage to save yours too OP.
