Was walking round the housing estate in on, looking for hazelnuts (there are several bushes) as I wanted to try growing some. Couldn't find any, but found this instead. Is it a Sloe?

It is one type of the plum family!

If it is a sloe it will suck the moisture from your mouth but if it is a damson it should be sweeter and if a plum, quite sweet.

Sloes also have thorns and I can't see any but the image isn't really in focus and I'm looking on a phone so it is hard to tell.

They also look bigger than a sloe.

Yes I didn't notice any thorns - so possibly a damson then?

Did you pick any?

Looks more Damson than Sloe. You will have to taste one !

Those are bullace I think - wild plums, make the most amazing jam 😋

Oh interesting! Might have to go & get some & see! Wonder if the stones will grow?

Should be fairly straightforward but might need a spell in the freezer to get them started …
