Do I need to protect these small perennials grown from seed (year one)?

This January I started growing some perennials from seed - to reduce cost and to fill gaps in the garden. I have grown:

coreopsis
echinacea
rudbekia
verbena bonesaires
china roses

i was expecting 50% success but they’ve all grown and now I have about 40 10cm pots with perennials in which, apart from the roses which have flowered all summer and been on the patio, are still in pots.

i was following the general advice that perennials from seed are still quite ‘small’ first winter and keeping in pots is a good idea so they can be moved/protected. None other than the roses have flowered this year which I expected.

now I seriously don’t need them all, so I’ve donated lots to our local community garden but have said I’ll keep them till spring for them.

should I keep them in the greenhouse? I’m worried I’m going to run out of space! I have other stuff to go in there too in November!

and - will they die back to nothing like other perennials do? Or should I cut them back? Or just leave them alone! They are bushy and verdant at the moment so I’m not sure!

thanks

Yes, they’ll die back. I would put as many of each as you have space for in an unheated greenhouse and leave the rest outside. Main danger overwinter is waterlogging, so f they have saucers or trays under them, remove them once the rain sets in
