Did your Garden have a good summer ?

We live in the North West in Cumbria . I feel this has been the worse summer for our garden in at least 10+ years. The lupins were a no show , most never came up , the ones that did hardly flowered. The Gladiolis never came up except one very spindly one.
Shrubs that usually abundantly flower , didn't put on a good performance. All in all a poor year. How was it for you ?

From May to early July mine was beautiful in the main. But then the heat and lack of rain started - my peony flowers were smaller than usual, and a salvia I bought just fried to death. Agapanthus and rudbeckia had good leaf growth but no flowers; wonder if it was just self-protection due to the heatwave? Not buying lupins again - I love them but the £25 of plants I put in lasted less than a week once the slugs and snails got a whiff of them.

Allotment wise not a great success. Onions did really well and I probably don’t need to buy any until Xmas. Strawberries did well for the first time in ages - we’re Mcr so not a huge amount of sun normally. Spuds were ok but small crops, autumn fruiting raspberries also a let down. Tomatoes stubbornly green.

Flowers, not so good, but trees, shrubs and especially fruit have been very good. I've been swamped with tomatoes, courgettes, peppers, cucumbers, figs, apples, even managed some peaches.

I’ve lost lots of things. I think I might possibly have rescued my hydrangeas but only time will tell, even lost lots of herbs. A number of conifers too.

Midlands here.
My peonies, mock orange, daphne and lilac were all magnificent and I had my best ever display from a camellia.
However, my magnolia, hydrangeas and roses have been absolutely awful.
