We are buying a property with 2 of these. I've tried checking on identifier apps and the Internet but not really getting anywhere.

Can anyone help identify this apple tree?

They look like my Bramley. Same size apples and appearance.

You might have to wait until you move in and then scoff one Grin

The most likely is that they are cooking apples. I.e. apples where they are quite sharp so you wouldn't want to eat them straight from the tree but are fine for cooking with. Cider making also an option 😁

Apples don't work like most people assume, if you have a nice apple and plant the pips you are likely to grow a tree with very different apples on it.

Oh good, I hope so.

Would be quite happy with cooking apples too and will definitely be trying.our hand at cider making. This garden is much bigger than we've had before with a dedicated veggie patch. I'm really looking forward to being creative from any produce from the garden and learning all about it. We've lived in towns with very little space for a long time so baby steps and a glass of homemade cider will be a great start!

I have followed a rather excellent but rather dated (although cider making hasn't really changed) book "Craft Cider Making" by Andrew Lea. The majority of the content seems to be available here for free but I would recommend the book as well.

Good luck!

There are several hundred varieties of apple, id from a photo isn’t going to work. The RHS gardens sometimes have an Apple Day when you can take apples to be identified
