perfect shrub for a large pot

I'm rapidly going off container gardening for obvious watering reasons. However I have a very large and handsome pot which needs filling. I'd love recommendations for an evergreen shrub for it. What works well in containers?

I have a couple of hydrangeas in pots, they look lovely but they require lots of water. Someone may come along with a better suggestion.

David Austin have some roses that do well in pots. Look up the recommendations on their website.

A myrtle? They are old fashioned but they have lovely foliage and beautiful flowers.

Or just stuff the pot with annuals.

Dicentra and trailing ivy?

A vine?

Olive tree?

Bay trees standard or normal thrive well in a pot.
Skimming japonica.

Dwarf rhododendron or camellia? They're both evergreen and do well in large pots with ericaceous compost.

Fatsia japonica. It looks vaguely exotic but is quite easy-care.

Lavender? Hebe?

I have a standard holly that does very well in a large pot. It is evergreen and we keep it close to the patio doors so that, in winter, we can see the festive red berries. I string a few lights round it ocasionaly, at Xmas, as well.

It's underplanted with snowdrops that also come up reliably every spring.
