How fast does choisya grow?

Does anyone here grow choisya? I bought the "White Dazzler" variety from Crocus, which is supposedly very fast growing but I haven't noticed any new leaves since it arrived. How does it normally grow in the first year? They have only been here for 1.5 months so I may be a bit impatient, but the symphoricarpos I bought along with the choisyas are growing like weed 🤔

I think you’re being impatient, it’ll want to get its root system settled before putting on top growth. Symphoricarpos is growing like a weed because it is a weed - invasive if it gets into the wild

The saying goes ‘the first year they sleep, the second they creep, the third they leap’.

Oops, I didn't know symphoricarpos is invasive! Rookie mistake 😐

Thank you, I'll wait patiently for the choisyas...

It’s not classed as an “invasive species” , but it’s one that tends to take over left to its own devices. Throws up adventuring shoots from the base. You’ll be able to control it in your garden.

It grows pretty fast once its established- it'll probably take a year or so to get established though. They need a bit of time to send down some roots and settle into their new spot. I'm a bit too impatient and if I want instant impact these days I tend to spend a bit more and buy a bigger specimen of the plant I want, 7 to 10 litre sized pots at least. They usually take a bit more finding, but they're usually out there somewhere!

Actually, it starts to grow now! Suddenly many new leaves shot out in the last 2 days, in the middle of the heatwave 😁Before it had nothing!
Buying a bigger plant is a good idea actually. Crocus does have one 7.5l for pre-order so I'll get it from them.
