Help identifying these beans!

Does anyone know what variety of bean these are? I’m guessing some sort of broad bean as the pods were good and big. About 4 beans per pod. The younger ones have silvery grey speckles, turning browner as they get older.

DH chucked a variety into the greenhouse this year and I think I’ve figured out that the majority of them (cream/green) are Oldamaster and Londonderry broad beans but these grey lads have me stumped.

They’re probably some sort of heritage variety as that’s the sort of seeds he usually gets. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

They’re a type of runner. Flatter beans than French, butstill concave both sides, not with parallel sides like a broad.

Broad beans don’t have markings on them. And a furry lining to the pod.

Runner and French beans are both Phaseolus. My memory is that the name is a reference to Phasianus, the pheasant, as a reference to the spotted beans.

Broad beans are in the same family but otherwise unrelated, Vicia faba, ie a vetch.

Thank you! Would never have looked at the runner bean varieties.
