Well yet again something has gone wrong with my passionflower. Last year I got a few gorgeous flowers and many buds but realised as soon as it was dark there was earwigs crawling all over it and buds never bloomed.

This year I had high hopes, so many buds, a couple flowered and the rest look as if they have died off. There have been no earwigs this year as I have checked religiously each night before I go to bed.
Photos attached for you knowledgeable gardeners. First photo showing what I had anticipated would be a glorious display this year. Second photo 🤔

Perhaps it's the heat?

Are you in an area where we had 37 degrees the other week? I am and I have found several of my plants have now shown similar problems with flowers and leaves simply drying up despite watering.

I'm wondering if the plant is going into self preservation mode and conserving moisture. My garden is looking rather sad because of it but hopefully with better conditions next year (fingers crossed) they will bloom well then.

@Lindy2 I did indeed have tropical temperatures but had noticed the problem before that. Just when I was getting excited looking all the buds which I thought would open and make a splendid display next to my clematis ( which is fantastic).

It's probably not the heat so much as the water. They are quite thirsty.
