Any orchid people out there?

DH got me a corker of an orchid for Valentine’s Day.

it’s bloomed since February and now gone into what I thought was a dormant phase.

googled advice tells me to cut the stems with a sterile knife and reduce the watering even further.

however I can see some new growth on the stems and wondered if cutting them would now be wrong?

anyone know?

Cut the dying one on the left to above a node (bump) and leave the other one and cut down after it’s flowered again. Don’t overwater….I run mine under the tap once a week in summer (less in winter) and make sure it’s drained before putting back in pot. Spray with a bit of orchid food.

Thanks. Both stems have new growth though. Should I leave both in that case? Same location for both - below the prior flowering nodes. Will the old nodes reflower?

The new growth should be a new flowering stem. Cutting above a node can stimulate that node onto producing a flowering stem. Since yours have already been stimulated into growth there is no strict need to cut, but if you want to tidy it up, you can cut the obviously dead stem where it’s obvious dead.
