Can you help me save this pot please? (Pic)

This is part of a set my mum has passed onto me and I would like to remove this baby bamboo (or something) and dead palm tree and re-pot an acer in its place.

As you can see there's an almighty crack. The pot is large and an unusual shape.

What approach would give it the best chance of surviving?!

Thanks

The standard MN answer is Milliput for the crack. It comes in white and silver-grey so hopefully you can match the colour.
As a belt-and-braces, you could also put a worm drive hose clamp (jubilee clip) round the neck to help hold things in place.
It's what I did for my big terracotta pot several years ago and - touch wood - it's still there.

Thanks so much! I've just ordered some. I will do just as you suggest. Thank you.

@Lelivre
Glad you found the suggestion helpful.

It's just occurred to me that you may have problems down the line. It's one of those awkward pots where the neck is narrower than the belly. Hopefully your new acer will grow but, in a few years time, when you try to refresh the soil in the pot you will have trouble getting the root ball out. It may put strain on the mend and you end up breaking the pot.
It might be an idea to put the acer in a suitably-sized standard plastic, straight-sided pot and then put that inside your mum's pot.
