This was taken in April, the fence is just over 6ft. Is it just a massive green Cordyline? I have no recollection of planting it, we’ve only been here 5 years and it definitely (unless it was tiny) wasn’t there when we moved in.

it’s very close to a plum tree, which is getting big and now growing into it, so either has to be moved-is that possible?- or destroyed which seems a shame. I need to know what it is so I can figure out the best thing to do with it.
TIA

Yes it's a cordyline, they look like blades of grass when tiny so it probably was there all along. I think they're pretty tough to move as they have a deep tap root, but if it can't stay there then it's worth a try.

Remove all the lower leaves - cut them back to the trunk to about 2/3 of the way up and it won't look so massive.

If you do decide to move it, then early autumn would be your best bet.

Thanks, now I at least know what it is I can make a plan. Once the nearby plum has dropped its leaves it will be easier to get in at it and see what to do with it.

I’m not sure I have anywhere to put it tbh, I had no clue they grew so big! There’s a purple one at the front but I def I put that in. I had one in the last house for 12 years and it was still only thigh high when we left but the one I planted here is chest height already. I obviously need to research before buying plants in future.
