Recommendations for a plant app

I need to get a plant app to help identify what's a plant or a weed but there's so many.
What would mumsnetters recommend?

I've got an iphone if it matters.

I'm currently trying out plantsnap, plantnet and iNaturalist. INaturlaist needs registering for so haven't got around to that yet. One of the others limits it's to 5 free pictures every 14 hours. Not sure which one. If you find a really good one I'd be interested to know what it is .

I use PictureThis but I pay for the annual subscription. It is 24.99 for the year. I find it very reliable and accurate.

Most plant apps are simply matching pictures in the same way as you do when flicking through pictures on google, but without the background info you have on how big the plant is, what time of year it’s flowering, where in the world it is growing.

iNaturalist is different in that the identifications are done by naturalists (ie humans), so you won’t get the howlers that you sometimes get on plant apps. But you won’t get an instant answer either.

@ApolloandDaphne How do you know PictureThis is accurate? Have you tested it out on plants that you know?

To be fair on PictureThis, I tried it out with about 100 plants in my garden - all of which I have records of what they are - and it was right for about 95 of them which I don't think is a bad record. The ones it got wrong, I could see why and how - because both plants were very similar.

I don't subscribe to it because I just didn't end up using it very much: but I was pretty impressed with almost everything I tested it on when deciding to keep it or not.

Yes I have.

PictureThis is well worth the annual subscription, I’ve had it for three years and use it multiple times a week both in the garden and out on walks. I prefer it to PlantNet.
