What a gorgeous display for you and your neighbours - and glad the bees are enjoying it too.

Davethecat2001 · 14/06/2022 20:19

Thanks @Sitoff 😊

The front garden was a concrete wasteland when we moved in here 3 years ago..

I still love just standing outside and feeling happy that we have put some love and nature back in.

It was like this...

Oh my word - amazing transformation. Looks like it took some effort but well worth it.

Arewethebadguys · 14/06/2022 21:11

Wow! Looks gorgeous well done you! 💪

browneyesblue · 14/06/2022 21:21

It’s beautiful 😍

MrsJamin · 14/06/2022 22:07

Very nice @Davethecat2000, I love it when you see people have made an effort with their front garden.

RaininSummer · 14/06/2022 22:10

It's lovely. I feel sad when I pass a garden which is a concrete wasteland with not even a potted plant for the bees.

redfairy · 15/06/2022 06:31

Beautiful. I love to see a loved front garden.

Davethecat2000 · 15/06/2022 08:50

Thanks all.

That blue metal thing bolted into the middle of the concrete in particular used to give me the rage!

When OH smashed it out it was a great day!

Great transformation! I love admiring people's front gardens when I'm out walking. You're bringing joy to loafs of people and insects!

Beamur · 15/06/2022 09:03

Lovely.
My front garden is full of bees too.. it's a long strip alongside the drive and we've filled it with plants and a mini pond so we have frogs too.

Beebumble2 · 15/06/2022 11:24

That’s so pretty and certainly worth all the effort. I have planted a hotch potch of plants under my privet and Leyllandi hedges, anything cheap or surplus! It’s lovely to see how they survive in what was an empty space. I throw the spent compost along there in the Autumn.

ElenaSt · 15/06/2022 11:28

Looks lovely! A little bit of urban paradise!

Rollercoaster1920 · 15/06/2022 11:36

@Beebumble2 what have you found grows well under / next to a privet hedge? My hedge is now established and I've considered putting some flowers infront of it but thought the hedge would take all the water. My plants would be on the north side.

Davethecat: your garden is lovely. I'm slowly getting green, height and flowers intro my garden and it's lovely seeing your success.

Beebumble2 · 15/06/2022 12:34

Hi Rollercoaster my hedge is in a similar position to yours, N facing. It’s on the edge of my driveway turning circle so occasionally gets a tyre, so I’m not that precious about it.
The plants that grow there are Euphoria, Crainsbill geraniums, oxeye daisy, vinca minor, yellow loosestrife, Valerian and any spare annuals such as marigolds. Also freebees that have blown in.
As I said in the Autumn I empty the compost from hanging baskets, tubs and potato sacks on it. In the spring, when there’s more light I’ve planted crocus and daffodils. I also plant any primulas that are being sold off cheap.
I’m into planting anywhere and everywhere.
