Please help me make my porch pretty (photo incl)

Hello! Hoping I can harness the power of the hive mind to help me make the front of my house a bit prettier...

My house is a 70s mock Georgian (see photo) and the architectural style feels out of place in the area (close to beach).

To disguise/soften this, I would really like to grow something on the columns and across the front left hand side - I was wondering if there are any suggestions for something fast growing that would do well in this spot.

The front of the house gets the afternoon sun and we live in a village on the South Coast on England.

Thank you in advance!!

Also, just to add, I would prefer something with white flowers.

And I'm guessing I would need to remove some of the step ok the right hand side so the bed is closer to the right column?

Any other advice and suggestions gratefully received!

Evergreen Montana clematis, will cover that in no time. Lovely big white flowers.

Actually, I'm not sure ours is a Montana. It's evergreen with white flowers and smells of jasmine, it's beautiful.

How tall are your pillars? You can get "pillar roses" which are small climbing roses and some of the smaller ones could be grown in large pots at the base of the pillars.

I think that would probably want an evergreen so it would still look nice in winter. Here's a list.

The steps/paving are crying out for mexican fleabane.

Oh, and don't think that you are restricted to just one climber. You could have intertwining which flower at different times so you extend the season or flower at the same time and so give contrast.

I’d go for a mixture of three plants: a climbing rose that is repeat flowering, a star Jasmine ( ours has leaves all year round) and an evergreen white winter flowering clematis.

You guys are amazing! Thank you!!

Re the columns - they are approx 2.5 metres tall.

Will research and no doubt come back with more questions 🤓

I'll echo the suggestion for star jasmine (jasmine trachelospermum), it's evergreen, has white flowers and smells lovely.

A rose and/or clematis to grow in with the jasmine would be great.

I was going to suggest some large pots, however you'll have to water and mulch with fresh compost regularly (especially if you go for multiple climbers)... you'll get much more vigorous growth if you plant directly into the flowerbed.
With the above in mind, I'd probably suggest removing the whole of the 'step' on the right hand side of the porch in order to bring the flowerbed closer. I'd also remove a bit of the slab on the front step on the right hand side of the column, just to keep it uniform.
