I need to re-pot some of my indoor plants. Is it ok to use earth/potting compost (can't remember how it was described, but I bought it online from Patch plants) that has been in a plastic bag in a cupboard for about a year?!

(I don't have a garden.)

Yes
As long as it hasnt gone mouldy (any powdery white or green traces) i had this once from a cheap soil bag from a discouny supermarket. I try not to buy soil and try to make my own or get it from the council for free.
if there are mushroom, these are fungi and are fine, even beneficial.

Of course

Yes but if it's dried out it's best to water it and give it time to rehydrate before you plant things in it. You don't want it either soggy or dry, just in between like fresh compost.

Thanks for the replies. I wondered whether there could be indivisible mould, but it sounds like not? Good tip about making sure it’s not dry - thank you!
