Does anyone know about Mexican Hat plants? Grown them before?
We were given one at a plant sale for free. The stall holder said they grow from the little nodules on the leaves which drop off & certainly it has lots of babies underneath.
Are they easy to separate?

The babies grow round the edges of the leaves, and when they are big enough, they drop off of their own accord. You will probably find them fallen in the plant pot, and all over the windowsill once they get going. All you do is fill another pot with compost and put them on the top of the soil, and away they go.

Thanks @yesthatisdrizzle - I'll see how it goes, might need to re home the babies underneath. I have a feeling will end up with tons!

You will be overrun with them! There are already babies in the bottom of the pot. They can be a bit of a pest when grown among other plants, but if you keep it on its own, probably not too much of a problem.
It looks as though it’s big enough to flower, when it will send up a spike of buds that develop into hanging bell-shaped flowers in shades of orange.

This is also called Mother of Thousands for a reason! They are considered pest plants in some areas due to their nature of having so many babies. We also have some that my daughter brought home from school.

Haven't seen one of these in decades! Used to grow them in my student days but never got one to flower. They're fun.
