I can't think what this is, it was growing on some fairly boggy ground on Skye. The photo doesn't give the right sense of scale, I think the individual flowers were

Here's a Web page with Skye wildflowers www.isbuc.co.uk/Wild/Flowers_Blue_Purple.php

Had a look at that website and I think it is called Self heal/Prunella Vulgaris

I think it's lousewort, Pedicularis sylvatica - that's on the Skye website too under pink, it was more pink than purple and the habitat is right for it.
Thanks all!

Yes it's lousewort!

A bit of general advice - a close up of the flower is useful (and that’s a fantastic pic, OP) but for certainty in id, it’s helpful to see the rest of the plant too. There are some groups, eg buttercups, daisies/mayweeds/chamomiles, yellow pea flowers, where the flower is no help at all.

That shape of flower could be the Labiate (mint) family, or Scrophulariaceae (which has now been subdivided, I’m using it in the old sense) (but not Orchidaceae). Lousewort is a good call. To confirm, check the leaves, which are quite distinctive.

Yes, I realised when looking at the photo I could have done with a slightly bigger one. And sometimes one which gives a bit more of the environment may be useful. It was caught while we were puzzling about whether we could get through a particular piece of bog, before realising we should have been on a path higher up.Grin.
