I have a couple (generous gardener from David Austin) at the back of my border against wall. They were planted about a year ago.
Trouble is I am doubting how much I will get to enjoy them since the shrubs in front are blocking them (though they seem to be growing well and flowering). Think the roses can get to 4 meters but the stuff in front is about 3 meters (conifer, holly Bush, amelanchiar, acer). I was thinking of putting them in pots and putting them on an improvised shelf to get them higher. Would you do this or leave them in the soil? The shelf would not be visible from front of border so can be just an upturned plant pot/old garden table etc etc
Thoughts on this? Would the plant hate it?
